New Identity Verification Requirements from 1 July 2026
From 1 July 2026, conveyancing businesses across Australia became subject to new obligations under Australia’s Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing framework.
For our clients, this means we may ask for a little more information before or during your conveyancing transaction. This may include verifying your identity, confirming your source of funds, confirming your contact details, understanding the purpose of your transaction and, where applicable, identifying the individuals who own or control a company, trust or other entity.
For most clients, these additional checks will be quick and straightforward. It remains business as usual at All Hours Conveyancing, with a few additional compliance steps to help keep Australia’s property market safe and secure.
Before You Sign… Have Your Contract Reviewed
Buying property is one of the biggest financial decisions you will ever make, and the contract you sign can have long-term consequences.
A contract review allows us to identify issues including:
- Unusual or unfair special conditions
- Easements, covenants or title restrictions
- Planning or zoning matters
- Owners Corporation obligations
- Off-the-plan considerations
- Settlement risks and key dates
- Other clauses that may expose you to unnecessary risk
A relatively small investment before you sign can often save thousands of dollars — and a great deal of stress — later.
