Until recently, our experience with conveyancing firms was limited to standard property purchases and sales, involving relatively straightforward settlement calculations. While we acknowledged the value of the service, we viewed it as largely clerical and somewhat expensive. That perception changed dramatically when we undertook a restructuring of part of our property portfolio involving changes to certain trustee arrangements. What followed was a regulatory maze, riddled with counterintuitive requirements.
